The next Freud- me?

I want to direct my interest in Psychology from my hobby to my career.

There are so many questions to be asked about human behavior, and if it weren’t for the science of Psychology this questions might not be asked or go unanswered. I am curious about everything concerning human behavior (although “curiosity killed the cat”).

Curiosity plays a big part in human life, it is part of our adolescence and how we are socialized. Our community would never be the same if it was not for curiosity, because it contributed to the development of different philosophies, which also influenced on world development.

As long as I can remember I have been fascinated by how people act and behave. I can use my mum and dad as an example. Even though they have been married for many years, they are very different and have different opinions on many subjects.

In my spare time I enjoy skiing, dancing, being active in the nature and travelling. I love wonderful mountains and waterfalls, and I love the space nature give me to think. On the other hand, and this is an example of one of many wonderful contradictions in life, I seldom think, because I am always texting a message with my mobile phone when I’m out in the nature, afraid of being alone.

I now work part-time in a grocery store, and I have been teaching kids how to dance. It was easy to see all the different stages of development and variation in behavior, when I worked with the children, and I found it interesting. From my current position behind counter I also see a great deal of the human variation. The specter is wide, from young arrogant persons to literarily senile old citizens.

I like to study how people capture things in different ways, and how something can be difficult for somebody, but easy for somebody else.

I also like to listen to what others have to say, and I love to help people to find their own way to be happy. I think this is a good combination, which could lead to a professional career.

To study at university is something I have looked forward to do for a very long time, but what subject I’m going to study has been a difficult decision, since I haven’t been able to focus on a career, until now.

I have chosen psychology based on my interests and passion for helping people to see what they want in life and to make them happy. Studying psychology I can learn skills that can be helpful for people in difficult situations. I hope that I will be able to develop myself and my thinking in order to achieve a place The University of Cambridge. A good psychology degree could also be a valuable basis for any career, because understanding human behavior is important for success.
